Personal Project: Four People – Twelve Times. January 2011.

Check me out. I did it. Month one = success!

Ok. To summarize January. The thing that comes to mind when I think of January is SNOW. On top of our White Christmas, it snowed heaps and mounds in January. We had about 4 inches of the white stuff, and about an inch of the frozen white stuff (ice). All of this winter white resulted in THREE days off from work. WooHoo! We constructed our very own high performance sled – made out of an old couch cushion, plastic and lots and lots of duct tape. Yes, we are hard core. The neighbors coveted our sled as we raced down the surrounding the driveways. Ok. So that’s a lie. But we had fun. Alena’s primary goal was to achieve mach 1 as she raced down hills. Algis was more interested in the snow-ice buffet and enjoyed eating as much of the white stuff as he could stomach. Hopefully what he ate was all white and not yellow. We also built, what I am pretty sure was the biggest snowman in the neighborhood. He was decked out in an AUburn t-shirt, AUburn shaker and a roll of toilet paper – ready to roll Toomer’s Corner in honor of Auburn’s BCS Championship Title!! War Eagle!

January meant back to school for the kids. They were lucky enough to spend the entire month of December on vacation. Jonas’ parents came here, then took the kids home with them – and the kids were shipped back and forth for the month. Happy that they got to spend so much time with their grandparents. Times with my grandmother are my most precious memories, and I’m glad the kids get to create some memories of their own. The only drawback was the reintroduction to the schedule. Actually Alena was eager to return to school and all of her friends. She is our social butterfly. Surely she will be class president or the leader of The Pink Ladies...something. Algis was a little less than thrilled to return. After about a week of prying him off my leg in the mornings, he is back into the groove. He is the sensitive one. Might not run for office, but always the first to make sure everyone is ok.

I have made a conscious effort to be more present when I’m around the kids. My life is passin’ me by and no matter how hard I dig in my heels and try to slow it down – it keeps on truckin’. I don’t want to forget a thing. This little life that we have created for ourselves is so precious to me and I want to cherish it. As they get older and I hear these things come out of their mouths: Alena at hearing a Miley Cyrus song, “I just love this song. It makes me want to cry” WHAT?! How old are you?? Or as I am getting smoothies out of the fridge for Alena, Algis yells, “Hey Lena! You want a smooth knee?” Hilarious. These little moments that crack me up and melt my heart are signs that they are growing up and their personalities are solidifying. And I didn’t all of a sudden see the light or even have an “ah-ha” moment about trying to be more present. One night during the dreaded bed time routine, I raised my voice at Alena and her little chin began to tremble and her eyes welled up. She did as she was told and went to bed. At first, I was proud of myself for being firm and following through. And then I thought about it and it didn’t sit well with me. I don’t have many memories of my mom yelling at me to the point of making me cry. And whatever Alena did that night, I can’t even remember what it was, certainly did not deserve a tongue-lashing from a frustrated, exhausted mommy. I went into her room and apologized. “It’s ok Mommy. I love you.” For real? Dagger to my heart. That was all I needed to hear. I will do better.

The photo for this month was taken on a freakishly warm weather day in January. 70 degrees. It was glorious. We took full advantage and headed down to Tomas and Neely’s for fun, food and fresh air. So in addition to completing month #1 of my little project here, we also had our first “Sunday Family Dinner” with Tomas, Neely and Lila – and friends. We plan to make that a tradition as well. Who said you have to be Italian to enjoy Sunday Family Dinner?

Also this month: Alena cut her own hair. It wasn’t a huge chunk, but there is definitely a handful missing. We have yet to get it fixed since she is adamant that her hair grow down her back, but I think a trip to Pigtails-n-Crewcuts is in our very near future. The kids went to the dentist. Alena’s 2nd visit and Algis’ 1st. Alena is a rock star at the dentist. Algis…..well….let’s just say that we are hopeful that he will actually allow the dentist to look into his mouth at his next visit. The dentist was able to get a quick peek and said that everything looks great. Jonas started a new job. WooHoo! He already seems happier and more motivated than ever. Its good to see him get his Mojo back. We both started exercising again. Of course. Its January. That’s what we do. But with my other fitness goals this year, I had to start some time. Jonas is P90Xing and will be rock hard in about a week. (Men! I swear he works out twice and he’s right back to top form. Me? Not so much.)

As far as I can tell, January was a complete success. Here’s to keeping the streak alive!

SIX LOFTY GOALS.

My goals for 2011 are my loftiest ones yet. I thought if I published them, put them in writing, maybe the odds of me actually achieving them would increase. So – that’s what I’m doing tonight. I’m sorta skerred to post them. In the back of my mind is the lingering fear that I lack the motivation to complete them. Lack motivation. Lack time. Lack the drive… this post is already leading to the formation of yet another goal. So without further ado:

1. Run a half marathon. I am not a natural runner. I do not enjoy running. Years ago I tried to convince myself that I was a runner. Well, I got a little older. A little slower. And wised up. Running a half marathon is one of those bucket-list things that I just want to check off and be done with. I have yet to register for an actual race, but I have started running again. At a snail’s pace. On the treadmill (gross).

2. Complete at least one triathlon. I have only done two triathlons in my life. They were simultaneously some of the best, and worst, experiences in my life. In the moment, I hated it. Kicked in the face during the swim. Left in the dust of bad-ass bikers on what I swear were Olympic style, velodrome bikes. Passed by grannies on the run. I hated it. It sucked – the whole time. And then I finished. I loved it. It was sort of like child birth. While its happening, you would rather be anywhere else. But as soon as its over, you want to do it again.

3. Read 5 classic American Literature novels. Honestly, my original goal was to read 10. And then I started reading Wuthering Heights about three weeks ago and already lost interest. I mean, it has footnotes for God’s sakes! I am battling through it, but only because I said I would. I need to do better research before I choose the next one. Otherwise, this goal is sure to fall by the wayside. *Also reading Three Cups of Tea – and love it.

4. Family Date Night. Carpet picnics while watching “Bolt.” Building forts with blankets and enjoying a buffet of pop-corn and popsicles and pop rocks. Museums. Movies. Make-up. Moon sand. Marbles. Melissa and Doug. These are my favorite times with my little family – and I plan to make these happen more often.

5. Personal Project: Four People – Twelve Times. This is a popular project among photographers. I have seen several versions of it – one photo every day for a month, one photo every month for a year, even one photo every day for an ENTIRE year (Good Lord! Can you imagine??). I think once a month for a year is doable – even for me and my procrastinator ass. So – once a month – I will take one photo of all four of us, together. Self-timer, hand held or phone-a-friend to do it. I will post the photo and jot down some notes about our month. Not so much because I think other people are interested and would actually read about us (that actually creeps me out a little – the thought of strangers reading about us) but more because I just want to remember us. The way we were. The way we are. My grand plan is to pull those posts from my blog and have them made into a book. Since I am NOT a Scrapbooker, the thought makes me cringe, actually, this will have to do.

6. Blog more! As I said, I don’t want to blog because I think other people are interested or will read my blog, but I want to read it. A year from now. Five years from now. Thirty years from now. In the past, my posts were few and far between. Primarily I posted only photos for other people. Now its time to post photos for me. I deserve a little attention now and again too.

Six lofty goals. Doable? Time will tell.

I’ve gotten lucky with photo sessions lately. Nothing makes me happier than folks who are up for something a lil different. ‘Want to use the abandoned house down the street as a back drop?’ ‘Ummm..yes please.’ ‘Should we go to that old grocery store on the corner and see what we can find?’ ‘Heck yea.’ A little adventure never hurt anybody. And the fact that this Momma-to-be is stunningly gorgeous and would look beautiful standing in the middle of a swamp – makes it that much more fun. Hope this trend of fun-foto-shoots continues….. Now. Where is the nearest swamp? ;)

Skittles can be a photographer’s best friend - they make excellent ~~bribes~~ rewards for smiles. Not that these handsome boys needed more than one skittle each, but it turned into a little game. Games = fun. Fun = smiles. I rest my case.

I’m not sure I can adequately express my appreciation for individuality and personality – especially when it comes to family photos. Will I take your pictures if your family shows up in matching khakis and white shirts? Sure. Will I be inspired to capture your child’s individual personality and goofy quirks? Maybe. What I’m getting at, and what I discussed with the coolest mom I have met in a while, i.e. the mother of these fabulous kids, is that I want to capture a real, living, breathing, true life snapshot of your family. When was the last time you were all decked out in your denim and black shirts and hung out at home for family night? Probably not too recently, eh? Please let your kids pick out their favorite shirt or accessory (Beatles t-shirt? Right on. Fuschia and gray hoodie? LOVE it. Pink tutu? Perfect.) You’ll be happy that you did.

In the midst of the busy photography season that is September, October & November (think Christmas card family photos) I decided it was time to schedule a shoot for MY family. Something I have overlooked in the past, and regret, but there is no time like the present. We packed up a picnic and went out in search of the perfect spot to eat PB&J sandwiches, read “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” and play with some army men and pirates. After realizing that our #1 and #2 picnic spots were closed (who knew the state parks would be closed on the weekends??) we came upon the #3 spot – and happy that we did. It was perfect. Tall grass. Calm water. Blue skies. And a picnic table perched on the edge of the lake that was just asking for some company. (Having a little trouble getting the link to display properly, but it still works…)

At four weeks old, Nina wanted to do anything but sleep. She was bright eyed and bushy tailed – and hungry. We took our sweet time taking photos. Mostly I got to chat with Conrad and Christina about anything and everything newborn. Cute lil onesies. Binkies. Bottles. Breastfeeding. Sleep – or lack thereof. Baby smiles and baby toes and baby noises. She’s completely precious.

Hydrangeas are my all-time #1 favorite flower – ever. Ever. Ever. So last year when my hydrangeas failed to impress (a cold snap in late spring squelched them), I was bummed. Well – I think they enjoyed their year off last year and came back with a vengeance! Gorgeous. Plain and simple.

We took our annual trip a little early this year….which seemed like a good idea at the time, but now I am yearning for another trip to the beach. I’m sure we will find a way to get back to the island before the summer ends. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!

My friend, Shannon, told me about this great lil' spot just around the corner from our house - green grass, pretty trees, winding creek, purple flowers...just watch out for the prickers!! The kids and I packed a picnic and headed out to meet Shannon and her brood. I told the kids we were going to "the park" so they were a little disappointed when we arrived and there was no playground. I tried to convince them that it was "Nature's Playground" and that we could use our imagination to do whatever we wanted - safari hunt, Princess Parade, Pirate Party...Eventually they bought into it and before I knew it Algis was hunting for "Auburn tigers" and Alena was performing a ballet recital amongst the purple flowers. It was a good day!

One of the first little ones that I have had the pleasure of photographing from her arrival to now. I told her Mom that I am totally freaked out that time has gone by so quickly. (Of course this also means that I am totally freaked out that my own two munchkins are growing up so quickly!) Since time flies, its important to stop and smell the ~~roses~~ daffodils (and swing on the sketchy swing).

This little princess did her very best to stay awake for our entire session. In the end, mom’s snuggles, warm blankets and some milk finally put her over the edge and she drifted off to sleep. Although we giggled at her expression while we were taking pictures, I think her little open mouth is so cute. I’m hoping those few hours of her staying awake meant that she slept ALL night allowing Mom to rest….wishful thinking?

For the past few years, my birthday has not been the celebration that it once was. I have either been too pregnant or too sick to party. This year I thought the tradition of a party-less birthday would continue. But I was mistaken. A few days beforehand, I mentioned to the kids that my birthday was around the corner. They picked up on the hint! :) They woke up singing ‘Happy Birthday’, wanted to make a cake and best of all, kept telling me that I was turning 24! (Wonder what they are buttering me up for?) So we baked a cake and sang many renditions of ‘HAPPY BIRFDAY MAAAAHHHH-MEEEEEEEEE’ and enjoyed OUR day. Best birthday party I can remember in a long time.

Here is little E the first time we met, just over a year ago. She was a little sleepy that day. We had a nice, quiet, calm morning.

Well…..I think calm and quiet has been replaced with excited and happy and ready-to-run and giggly and …you get the idea. Little Miss E is a hoot. She was no more interested in sitting down or holding someone’s hand (unless there was swinging involved) than I am in having another root canal!! She was on the move!

Believe it or not, there ARE times when I am without my camera. I haven’t quite figured out a way to permanently attach it to my person…yet. Those times when I am without it, I do my best to take mental snapshots. You ~~know~~ hope you will have tangible images from the ‘big events’ in life, the milestones: birthdays, holidays, parties, outings, vacations…. But it seems to me that the ‘little events’ in life warrant the same attention: The discovery of a lost toy when getting in the car to go to school. The dinner table conversation about McKenzie’s new baby sister. The practicing of the Thundercats call to all Superheroes. The playing with Ariel and the flying dragon in the bathtub. And my most recent mental picture:

Walking back to the car after a short visit with Dede Tomas Sunday night and Jonas, Alena & Algis walk ahead of me. “Race ya!” Laughter and wild, uncoordinated running ensues. Arms and legs flailing - trying to catch up to Tete. (The kids have not yet mastered Jonas’ Olympian Runner form.) A cold, crisp night. Wisps of scraggily blond hair illuminated by the orange glow of the street light. The moment has passed, no time for the camera. Just stop. Observe. Breathe every second in. And then smile to myself and think, “I can’t believe I am this lucky.” Click.

Kid #1: The pink jeans with the blue flowers. Too small. The blue jeans with the pink flowers. Too short. Way too short. The purple leggings. Too tight. The pink and white dress. Too cold out. The pink stockings, blue tutu and orange striped sweater. Perfect!

Kid #2: The blue sweatpants. Too short. The khaki pants. Too short. The navy cargo pants. Too short. The brown cords. Too short. (Sense a theme?) The yellow and blue striped pants with the red fire truck shirt. Success!

~~Kid #3~~. Husband: The black pea coat. Too much dog hair. The black pants and red button down. Too UGA. The plum pants and gray shirt. Too liberal. The khaki pants and blue shirt. Too wrinkled. The brown pants and yellow shirt. Handsome!

Me: The gymnastics teacher to toddlers. Too little patience. The Wal-Mart cashier. Too loyal to Target. The Outback Steakhouse Hostess. Too old. The Customer Service Representative at an International Logistics company. Too mundane. The insurance Underwriter. Too not me. The portrait and family photographer whose spirit comes alive when looking through a lens to capture a true moment that others can hold dear. FINALLY!

…and toy tractors and dirt and funny faces… These two handsome little guys won me over instantly. They love all things dirt. I am not what one might consider a ‘girly girl’ so the thought of playing in the dirt for a couple of hours, and snapping some pics in the process, was very appealing. I had fun playing in the dirt! Let’s do it again sometime!

Little Miss Pink Tutu was a riot. She was smiley and giggly the entire morning, but when Mom broke out the pink tutu, she was elated! It was the cutest thing I have seen in quite a while...

We were all in the car on our way home after "shooting on location" (sounds fancy, doesn't it?) at The Forum when Mr. Blue Eyes here shared a recent conversation he had with a classmate:

"She asked me if I wanted to be in love with her and I said, 'Ummm...well.......ok.' And then we played."

It was, by far, the cutest thing I have heard in a long time! And with these big blues, how could that little classmate of his not want to be in love with him?

This was our 3rd year vacationing at St. George Island, FL and we almost didn't come home. More twins! Half the time I was with these two, I was just staring.... in awe of their tiny little hands, tiny little noses, tiny little toeses. A grand combined total weight of 11 or so pounds - 11 or so pounds of perfection, I'd say. Seriously. And Mom & Dad, and Big Sister, have not skipped a beat. So far, so good - here's hoping that the "honeymoon phase" lasts and lasts and lasts!!! Here are a few from yesterday, I will send the rest real soon! A Walk in the Park

We haven't ventured down to Piedmont in quite a while, and thought it was time. The weather was AMAZING. Early Spring in Atlanta is the best - too bad it doesn't last longer! Uncle Tomas and Baby Lila joined us for a bit - we chased bubbles, people watched, snacked, walked and just generally chilled out. My idea of a perfect day!

On Sunday, we kicked it at the house all day. Algis was feeling particularly animated so I added a few accessories to his outfit and voila! We had our own little "Mr. T" running around ...

A visit with Nan and Papa produced happy times - as usual! It was a gorgeous weekend so we spent much of it outside - chillaxin. This first photo gives me hope that deep, down inside they really do love each other. (Actually, I already knew that but this just reinforces it!)

I recently joined a photography group where we propose challenges, capture images and critique each other's work. It is fabulous. I love it. The group members are all so talented, from totally different walks of life and have interesting points of view to share. One of our recent challenges led me to a little oasis that I barely knew existed - and it is only steps away from my backyard. Serene, quiet, reflective, peaceful.....mostly perfect. These images make me even hungrier for spring....I am counting the days........

I met little E when she was just a few weeks old. Now she is almost 6 months old and in that time, somehow she managed to get even cuter! She was so happy and smiley and full of giggles! So my sister in law is the most gorgeous person I know. And to top it off, she is just about the nicest, most sincere, kind-hearted person too....she is as beuatiful on the inside as she is on the outside. I'm trying to convince her that she IS America's Real Next Top Model. She was gracious enough to let me take a few pics of her - even though it was fffrrrreeezing outside this morning (29 degrees when we got there - brrr) ! After looking at these, I am now convinced more than ever that she should be in every fashion mag there is - now I just have to convince her!

We are all patiently awaiting Ellie's arrival(s)! Twin baby girls should make their debut in March and we are all on pins and needles waiting to see if one, or both, have Ellie's beautiful red locks! Ellie says "no red hair" allowed, but I hope they both have big, beautiful, bouncing curls of grogeous strawberry hair! Here are a few pics from her baby shower - so fun!

It's about that time...time to reflect on the year behind us, make some resolutions for the year ahead.. Hard to believe another year has flown by! Lucky for me I have some visual reminders of 2008. I was challenged by a fellow photographer to go through and pick my top 5 favorite images from '08. I failed miserably at picking 5 - I had to pick more! My favorites are images that speak to me. Sounds cheesy, but its true. I know I (will always) have sooo much to learn about photography. But for now I am concentrating on trying to capture images that represent my heart. It's not always about the camera or the lens or the lighting - it's about the feeling of the image. In a way, these pictures are as much a piece of me as much as they are a piece of whoever or whatever it is I am taking pictures of. I hope these images make you smile, speak to your heart, invoke something that makes you feel cozy inside. I can't wait to capture more in 2009! I have high hopes that my pictures will only get better!!!!

Little B here has a keen affection for trains. He knows all of the 'Thomas the Train' characters by heart and loves the "Train Park"!! Yay Train Park! I have a feeling little B will teach his sister all she wants to know, and more, about trains! Soo...getting a toddler to be still for a photo is an art in and of itself. I am still working on my technique, but managed to get a few clicks of this cutie. I arrived at the shoot with an arsenal of goodies, which to my relief, included a Thomas the Train toy. Phew! Of course we can't overlook Momma and her beautiful belly - gorgeous, funny, witty - and she looks THIS good pregnant?! Some girls have all the luck....

This little one finally arrived! You may remember her Mommy & Daddy from my 'Pregnant in the Park' post. Well, L & K were so incredibly patient - waiting TEN days past her due date!! I'd say she was well worth the wait. That smooth baby skin. Those cute little noises. That FABULOUS hair! I really want to share her name with you because I love it so much, but I won't. ;) Just think of the cutest baby girl name EVER - and that's it! L & K, thanks again for asking me to capture these moments. I hope I have the chance to do it again soon!

So little E here was off and away from the moment she laid eyes on my camera. She was quick. She was energetic. She was determined to be on to the next adventure. But I think I prevailed and managed to click one or two shots that are not completely blurry. I had fun at the park - on the playground, feeding the ducks, having an impromptu picnic, catching up with an old friend and hopefully meeting some new ones! With leaves at the peak of their fall colors, I couldn't resist getting the fam out there for some fun - and some pictures! Our plan was to go down to Chattahoochee National Park, near where we used to live, but we got sidetracked by the ducks, some old neighbors and a general lack of motivation to walk the extra half mile to get to the park! Every time we go back there we realize how much we miss living so close to the river and the park. :( But we managed to get a few Kodak moments in there.

My neighbor was also kind enough to let us tromp around in her back yard for some pics. They have a little oasis back there - a creek, a garden, gorgeous trees... The kids are going to love it when they get a little older. Our cul-de-sac backs up to a park so it stays nice and quiet back here .... for now.

is the word that comes to mind. This little girl was the 'smilingist', happiest, most laid back little subject - and she hadn't even had a nap! She was a champ! A beautiful, soft little face with the cutest rosy cheeks....sigh.... It is obvious that she is the apple of her Mommy & Daddy's eye. And after looking at these pics, you'll see why. We went to a Pumpkin Patch/Petting Zoo/Farm yesterday to try and find the most perfectly plump pumpkins suitable for our front porch! A good friend of ours, Shannon, and her two girls came with us - the kids loved it!! Alena and Reagan got to catch up on all the latest toddler gossip and Algis got to gush and hug all over his first crush (that would be Reagan). Oh - and Jonas, a.k.a. The Toddler Whisperer, did a fantastic job of wrangling the wee ones for pics!

Little (big) Man

Love at first sight. Seriously. Here is my new crush. This little (big) man is just over a year old and could give my little (big) man, Algis, a run for his money. Little N here was a natural with the camera. And just when we may have thought the shoot was over - it was nothing a little bribery couldn't fix. (Note to self: bring lots of goldfish crackers and cheerios to future toddler shoots.) S - I hope you love these as much as I do! I had so much with you guys yesterday! Can't wait for you to see the rest! :)

Patterns & Texture

Easy on the eyes. Naturally occurring. Surprising at times. Effortless to capture. This is why I like patterns and texture. Capturing them has become a favorite project of mine lately - you are likely to see more if you are a regular visitor. Here are just a few favorites from a recent trip to the park. I have an endless list that I intend to find: flaking paint, blades of grass, stone path, shingled roof, brick walkways - does the list ever end? This could take some time....

Recently, I had the exciting opportunity to make a trip into the "big city" (meaning Atlanta - I live in the 'burbs, remember?), reunite with an old friend, make a new friend and take in the sights of Piedmont Park. Oh yeah - and to take a few maternity pics while I was at it! While we were there, it seemed like the sky was going to open up at any moment. As a result, there is a certain shadowy, cozy feel to the pics. I know this image doesn't exactly scream "maternity picture", but it is pretty accurate in summing up the day...How cute are they?

Alena was happy to help since it meant she got to play in the water. Who knew that "Macaronis" (as Alena says) and cheese could be so entertaining? The kids were hamming it up more than usual last night so I had to grab the camera and capture some memories. The first is of Alena doing her best "CHEEEEEEEEESEEEE!" And I promise that I took all of these pics of Algis within about 2 minutes of each other. The kid never stops with the expressions! It's hilarious. I foresee a class clown in his future....?

During a recent visit with one of my very best friends, we thought we would let the kids cool down with an old fashioned romp in the sprinkler. Her oldest son decided he might need some extra protection so he donned his mom's kayaking helmet. Albeit a smidge too big, it did the trick (and provided the day's cutest pics).

So this is what life is like with one? Alena is off to the beach with her Nan and Papa for a few days so I spent some QT with the little man tonight - over mashed potatoes and cheese and cucumbers. Among other things, he has been trying to master the fork for some time. After dinner we colored newspapers on the floor and had Dance Party U.S.A. right there in the living room. He's got moves! One thing no one has ever accussed Algis of is having a pokerface. I was cracking up so much, and for once wasn't playing referee at the dinner table, that I grabbed my camera to try and capture the true Algis for everyone to see..

"Use my fork? No problem!"

Step 1: Stab mashed potatoes.

Step 2: Put (empty) fork into mouth.

(use both hands if necessary)

Step 3: Enjoy (imaginary) mashed potatoes. When steps 1-3 don't work, use your fingers.

OUCH! (I didn't say eat your fingers....)

Owwweeeee!

Just becuase these nephews of mine are covered with fur from head to toe, doesn't mean they deserve any less face time than those who aren't. In fact, I have half-way decided that they might deserve more. Some people (er, um....my Dad - love you, Dad!) discount animals straight away because they might be smelly or noisy or slobbery or rambunxious, but if I can convince just one person (Dad) that they are worth a second look -I am successful!

Marley Mar-Mar a.k.a the biggest Golden Retriever in the history of the world. He's mostly chill and puts up with my kids poking and proding him so he's cool with me....

Dixon. Sly little guy. Favors the sneak attack and has no fear when it comes to bigger and older cousins Sam, Baxter and Marley. He has a knack for chewing my kids toys, but if you wear him out well enough, he'll sleep like a champ too.

I think L was just two weeks old here. She was extremely cooperative and as you can see, the camera loved her! I guess its just as well that she gets used to Aunt Karen pointing the camera at her now - it's probably going to be a regular occurrence! How sweet is she?
